American Pharoah (foaled February 2, 2012) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the American Triple Crown and the Breeders' Cup Classic in 2015.
2015 was a big year for AP - American Pharoah became the 12th Triple Crown winner in history, and in winning all four races (the Breeder's Cup), became the first horse to win the Grand Slam of Thoroughbred racing. 2015 was also a big year for Charred Oaks Inn. COI opened in October of 2015 and we were there to witness this amazing horse's Grand Slam victory at Breeder's Cup held at the beautiful Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky.
He won the 2015 Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year and 2015 Champion three-year-old. He was bred and owned throughout his racing career by Ahmed Zayat of Zayat Stables, trained by Bob Baffert, and ridden in most of his races by Victor Espinoza. He now stands at stud at Ashford Stud in Versailles, about six miles away from Charred Oaks Inn.
Charred Oaks Inn is a Select Registry Kentucky B&B open year round and offering casually elegant accommodations within minutes of not only Ashford Stud/Coolmore America and Keeneland, but other wonderful horse farms as well like Pin Oak, Win Star, Godolphin, Gainsborough, Taylor Made, Lane's End and Hill & Dale.
Keeneland's annual race meets take place in April and October and be sure to mark your calendar for Breeder's Cup next year - November 6-7, 2020 - when Breeder's Cup once again returns to Lexington.
