Happy Easter!  Happy Passover!  At Charred Oaks Inn this morning, our guests woke to find the sun shining and the skies clear with big white puffy clouds floating in a sea of blue with the birds singing and flitting from one tree to another, enjoying the cover of the new leaves - the oaks, the sycamores, the  dogwood, the red buds, the flowering pear, the catalpas, the pecan, all turning different shades of green.


A Made-to-Order Breakfast Menu, which changes daily, is served from 8AM to 10AM in the inn's beautifully appointed dining room, or in bed, includes choice of starters, a Chef's Choice of both a Sweet and Savory Entree, and eggs of any description made-to-order (a side of grits is also available).  This morning the menu consisted of starters:  the house's signature baked oatmeal chock full of raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, topped with a lowfat vanilla glaze or a fresh fruit salad with a honey mint glaze made with the innkeepers' favorite Kentucky Colonel Mint;  the Chef's Choice Sweet entree of baked Polenta cakes with butter, cinnamon sugar and toasted almonds (served with real Maple Syrup); and the Chef's Choice Savory entree of the house's Breakfast Bruschetta: English Muffins with thin slices of Black Forest ham topped with a medley of diced heirloom tomatoes tossed with garlic, EVOO, Red Wine vinegar, fresh ground pepper, basil and poached eggs. And because it was a special day, Mimosas were offered and enjoyed.
