CHARRED OAKS INN CELEBRATES NATIONAL BOURBON HERITAGE MONTH

September is National Bourbon Heritage Month in the United States. Of course, here in Central Kentucky, bourbon is celebrated year round, but National Bourbon Heritage Month asks that anyone who appreciates Bourbon to celebrate that love with responsibility and respect.

The bill creating National Bourbon Heritage Month did two things: 1) it solidified the creation, the culture, the craft of the Bourbon industry as a proud chapter in the storybook of American history and 2) it reinforced a 1964 Act of Congress that declared Bourbon "America's Native Spirit". The all-important Act came about to protect and define what Bourbon was and where it was made.

To celebrate National Bourbon Heritage Month it can be as simple as raising a glass, cooking or baking with your favorite label or hitting the Kentucky Bourbon Trail!

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail is an adventure in the not-to-be-missed category. The tours focus on respecting the history and culture of Bourbon in some of the most beautiful facilities in some of the most gorgeous cities in Kentucky: Lexington, Louisville and Bardstown.

Charred Oaks Inn, a Select Registry bed and breakfast open year round, is located in western Lexington within a 15-20 minute drive from some of the best names in bourbon: Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Castle & Key, Glenn's Creek, Four Roses, Wild Turkey, James E. Pepper and Town Branch.

Amenities at the inn include king size four poster beds, private en suite bathrooms, Nespresso machines in the rooms, smart TVs, Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, luxurious linens and plush robes. Also included are complimentary afternoon sips & nibbles, a homemade dessert each evening and a made-to-order breakfast.

Throughout National Bourbon Heritage Month bourbon finds its way into breakfast: bourbon infused Dutch Babies; dessert: Banana Bourbon Walnut Crisp (pictured above); and for sips and nibbles: bourbon infused smoked Gouda and Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream.

National Bourbon Heritage Month is definitely a good reason to come celebrate our truly American Spirit, but you don't have to wait for September - come anytime!
