CHARRED OAKS INN CELEBRATES #KYDERBYatHOMEDay!

Today, May 2, 2020, is the first Saturday in May, but it is also the traditional Kentucky Derby Day and in light of the world-wide pandemic, this year's Run for the Roses has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 5th. Those of us who love the traditions associated with this unique sporting event are looking forward to the fall. But on this beautiful spring day in Kentucky our thoughts drift to the Kentucky Derby - the extraordinary athletes. the sights, the hats, the food, the mint julep and of course, the singing of "My Old Kentucky Home". If your feeling nostalgic for the fun and excitement of previous first Saturdays of May, go to KentuckyDerby.com and/or tune into NBC sports to view a virtual showdown of all former 13 Triple Crown winners around 5:40p.m. today.

The photos included in this post are a compilation of Kentucky Derby days at Charred Oaks Inn. At Charred Oaks Inn, we love being in the "horse capital of the world"! Located just outside downtown Lexington, minutes from Keeneland, home to world-class spring and fall race meets and record-breaking Thoroughbred sales and less than an hour away from the annual running of the Kentucky Oaks and Derby at Churchill Downs, we are perfectly situated to serve as your home-away-from-home for all things horse.

We will watch the Triple Crown Showdown (Richard is betting on Secretariat and War Admiral. Me? I'm betting on Secretariat and American Pharoah. As guests who have stayed with us know, that if I was still in my teens I would have posters of the Champ on my bedroom wall!)

If you listen, you will hear us singing "My Old Kentucky Home", click https://youtu.be/SryB2Cgb-SY to join in. Cheers!
