HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY FROM ALL OF US AT CHARRED OAKS INN!

To raisin or not to raisin - that is the question!! Recipes for the traditional "quick bread" of Ireland - Irish Soda Bread - are as varied as there are stories about why there would or would not have been raisins in the original staple.

Richard and I wish everyone a pleasant St. Patrick's Day! Here at Charred Oaks Inn in the Greater Lexington Kentucky area, we have fog this morning making for a quiet start to the day. Guests are milling about in their rooms enjoying their breakfasts and the smell of coffee is permeating the house.

In a little while everyone will be heading out for their day of Bluegrass adventures ranging from tours and tastings at area bourbon distilleries like Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Wild Turkey, James E. Pepper and Maker's Mark to small group tours at area horse farms. Today's horse farm tours include Ashford Stud, Sun Valley Mares and Claiborne.

Charred Oaks Inn is situated in Kentucky horse country right on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and makes for the perfect home-away-from-home base. A member of Select Registry, the inn participates in the "Stay Safe, Stay Select" program. Charred Oaks Inn's Covid-19 policies in their entirety can be found on their website.

If you're looking for some St. Patrick's Day fun, tune in today beginning at 1PM EST on the IrishCentral Facebook page to hear live Irish music from the world-renowned The Roadside Tavern of County Clare, Ireland.
