COME CELEBRATE SAINT PATRICK'S DAY AT CHARRED OAKS INN WHERE IRISH EYES SMILE AND SOUTHERN HOSPI
Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter; Lullabies, dreams, and love ever after. Poems and songs with pipes and drums;
A thousand welcomes when anyone comes. ~Author Unknown
Pictured is a traditional Irish cake/loaf often called a Tea Brack because of the soaking of the raisins and currents in strong tea overnight. Irish tea is always recommended, but I prefer English Breakfast. Here in Kentucky Bourbon Country, one can also soak the fruit in one's favorite bourbon (I have used Evan Williams, Makers Mark, Old Taylor, Woodford Reserve and Four Roses to name a few). The original Brack had only Barm (a mixture of hops; malt), milk and flour and was made for special occasions like New Year's, Halloween, Easter, etc. It is between a tea bread and a loaf in texture.
Here at Charred Oaks Inn located in the Horse Capital of the World, we offer a homemade dessert each evening. In honor of Saint Patrick's Day 2017 we will be serving our very own Tea Brack. To book a stay at this Select Registry property, located minutes from downtown Lexington and Versailles, Keeneland, the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, shops and fine dining, go to our secure website at https://www,charredoaksinn.com or call or text (513) 739-6156.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all of you from all of us!
