CHEERS TO THE NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year! 2020 - wow! A new year, a new decade and what better way than to start off this auspicious occasion than with brunch and "the world's most complex cocktail". Bloody Mary Day is celebrated worldwide on this day, January 1.

A Bloody Mary is a popular cocktail containing vodka, tomato juice, and usually other spices or flavorings of choice such as Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, beef consomme or bouillon, horseradish, celery, olives, salt, black pepper,and lemon juice.

Its reputation as a restorative beverage contributes to the popularity of the Bloody Mary in the morning and early afternoon, especially with brunch. This morning at Charred Oaks Inn our house Bloody Mary accompanied the New Year's Day brunch. The menu included the house signature starter, Baked Oatmeal, or a Mixed Berry Smoothie bowl; choice of our baked lemon blueberry pancakes served with warm blueberry syrup or individual baked bacon, egg and apple casseroles with choice of bacon or all natural chicken sausage. Breakfast is served daily from 8:00AM - 10:00AM in the dining room or in bed.
