LIFE BACK TO NORMAL AT CHARRED OAKS INN AFTER WINTER STORMS
" What he saw was an enchanted landscape, dazzlingly bright in a cold, hard February sun. The wind was still. There was a hush over the countryside, now glazed with a thin film of sparkling ice. Fields were acres of silver. Every tree branch, every twig was coated with crystal. Power lines and wire fences were transformed into strings of diamonds." ~ Jim Qwilleran, The Cat Who Knew Shakespeare by Lilian Jackson Braun.
After a week long siege of ice storms, snow and freezing rain, Greater Lexington is digging out and exchanging a landscape of winter wonders for our normal beautiful landscape dotted with baby horses and their mommies, rolling hills, tree lined roads and driveways and miles of rock walls and board fences.
Charred Oaks Inn, a Select Registry bespoke bed and breakfast, minutes from downtown Lexington, Keeneland, Woodford Reserve and Buffalo Trace distilleries, area horse farms and fabulous restaurants, is open year round. Its four supersize guest suites are not only exceptionally quiet, but perfectly decked out to accommodate a romantic weekend getaway or a weekday escape from "normal" life.
A made-to-order gourmet breakfast is included along with a choice of an Afternoon Tea Basket or French Picnic Basket for two, special beverages like Kentucky Ale, Hard Apple Cider, Bubbly, sodas, and hot beverages. The baskets are available from 3:00PM - 7:00PM, but must be ordered prior to arrival.
