CHARRED OAKS INN REMINISCES ABOUT BREEDERS' CUP CLASSIC
This weekend, the annual running of the Breeders Cup Classic will take place. The Classic is considered by many to be the premier thoroughbred horse race of the year in the United States, although the Kentucky Derby is more widely known among casual racing fans. The Classic is regarded as the fourth leg of horse racing’s Grand Slam of Thoroughbred racing (the Triple Crown races plus the Breeders’ Cup) especially since American Pharoah’s victory in 2015.
American Pharoah is an American Thoroughbred racehorse, (foaled in February, 2012), who won the American Triple Crown and the Breeders’ Cup Classic in 2015. He was the 12th Triple Crown winner in history, and in winning all four races, became the first horse to win the “Grand Slam of Thoroughbred Racing”. Retired now, Pharoah resides just down the road from Charred Oaks Inn at Ashford Stud/Coolmore America and retains the title as the inn’s most famous neighbor!
Both the Breeders’ Cup Classic and American Pharoah mean something special to Richard and I here at Charred Oaks Inn and that’s because we opened in 2015 in time for Keeneland to host its first Breeders Cup Classic and that the winner of the Classic that year was the very special American Pharoah!
Keeneland will once again host the Breeders’ Cup Classic next year. Charred Oaks Inn is located seven miles from Keeneland and five miles from Ashford Stud/Coolmore America and the champ – American Pharoah. Reservations are limited, call, text or go online to check availability. Richard and I would be only too delighted to help make your visit to the Greater Lexington area memorable.
